got there first light cold but not to bad. Only able to fish a few hours but it was well worth it. 5 smallies 1.5lbs-2.5, 3 largemouth one around 4 pounds. plus the usual big perch and crappie about 15 combined jigging. And every fish returned healthy. |

Were the bass all caught on tip-ups? If so, what kind of bait did you use?
I still haven't gotten any tip-ups. I'm not ready to give up on the challenge of jigging up a big fish. At least, not yet. But the urge to land something other than small panfish is growing. . . . _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I know that it takes some knowledge and skill to set tip-ups correctly, but it still seems kinda like playing the lottery to me. I haven't been bored or uninvolved enough while jigging to get any tip-ups, at least not yet, but think that it might make more sense to me after I try to land some walleye after dark. I really, really want to get a limit. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Phil - how many rods do you jig at once? You are allowed 6 tip ups/jigging rods total, so jig all you want, but you are missing out on another 5 chances to catch fish if you are not using tip us. _________________ Go big or go home! |

Yeah, Damian, I know. But I'm stubbornly clinging to the idea that I should be more involved in the process when I catch a fish. Otherwise, I'd just be landing a fish. Silly? Probably. But that's how I feel right now. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Another idea is to get a bunch of jigging rods and ice rod holders. I saw a couple guys at crystal using this set up and it seemed more fun. _________________ Go big or go home! |
