After fishing at the 2 private lakes and then Twin Brooks Park, I decided to head down to the Pequonnock at Glenwood Park ready for a bigger fish after what I saw last time I was there.

Started casting with a glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-8 and landed a small striper.

A few casts later while doing constant jerking downstream, I get a hit. Felt it pulling on my 8 pound mono like a bigger fish. 1 short run before hauling it in. Grabbed it by the mouth at the bank and found it to be a perfect 28" keeper!!!!

After that I landed 1 more small striper before it started raining so I headed home seeing it was close to 6pm.

Second CT keeper in my life! And as usual, it's a Rapala Success!

Nice! You should email Mike Iconelli with some of your locations and catches and get him to do an episode of City Limits Fishing around you! Great posting. Just goes to show that you can get some really good fishing in right on your doorstep!

Nice, I got one of those last weekend also. Mine was on a SP Minnow and then a smaller on a spook. You left because it was raining with fish biting.... Wussy! LOL I fished the other night at the reef and it rained the whole time.

Weird thing was how thin it was for a 28" fish. I thought I was gonna get meat but after trying to fillet it, I only got 2 small strips almost as small and thin as bacon! Found 2 peanuts in its stomach.

Cd662 from the site said the reason might have been because after the fish made it up river, it was having a hard time trying to make it back down so it wasn't eating well. That's also probably why it hardly fought.

yeah the stomach looks very thin, almost like maybe a sick fish? Sometimes ive had fish in aquariums get so thin even though they eat, but die shortly after thinning like that. Make sure to cook it well just in case.

I thought that as well, but you never know with a pic. Didn't want to launch another 3 page debate about size in photos Very Happy

Those bass are used to the easy pickins from large schools of bait and squid through the summer months. That one looks like it really missed out on some of those prime feeding runs.

I was thinking something about it being sick and not eating well or hardly gaining weight. The fish was a waste of a keeper. The fillets were thin and narrow enough for an easy panfry. Didn't see any markings on the meat.
