Anybody have any ideas on how to find the leak in my boat? I filled up up with water to see where its coming out and its slowly dripping in the back middle keel about an eyedrop a second, but I don't even know if thats the problem or its higher up the keel and just draining there because its at the back. |

Crap?? Pete we may have something called Liquid Aluminum which may work. I'll have my buddy Ron reply to this thread with his suggestions as he works more with outside vendors regarding our Loctite products and he his pretty handy with the repair jobs.

BT,
Ok, NOW your in my back yard. I do this all day..
There are a few things I need to know.
Have you found wear the leak is coming from since you first posted?
If so, is it in an area where the metal flex's? This will point me in the direction as to what product to use.
Is the leak in the area of a rivet, seam, weld or crack? If it's a crack you will need to releave the stress, you do that by drilling a very small hole at both ends of the crack. This stops the crack from continuing, then you fill the crack and holes.
Let me know and what you have and then we can move forward. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again.

The leak is coming from somewhere with in the middle hollow keel. It seems that the water runs down there and drains out at the very end of the keel in the back. Aslo there are two rivets up near the second roller on the trailer which are also along the middle keel that do drip but very very slowly. At the back end of the middle hollow keel ithere is a tear drop about every second. If I fish for 8 hours I end up with about 3 gallons of water in the back of the boat. |

Also this middle keel is what hits the rollers for the trailer all the time when loading the boat. |

BT,
Sounds like you have some lose rivets..
As long as they don't move around like a use nut & bolt you can use a wicking grade threadlocker.
This product will wick it's way in between the metal and rivit and seal. I used it on my old jon boat once before.
PM me with your address and I'll send you a sample along with some primer to help it cure faster.
Once your done with that, do the water test again and lets see where else might there be leaks.

Pete (BT) in addition to what Ron said, I would prop up your boat on some saw horses and make sure the boat bottom is dry. Now start filling up your boat with water and watch to see where the drips are starting. Might be easier to locate the leak looking for water drops leaking OUT of your boat rather than IN. If it is a rivet you will see it right away.

Yup I've done it twice and its 3 rivets near the middle of the boat. Would a hammer solve the problem by banging them back in? |

Pete,
The only way to bang them is with a hammer on one side and a steel block on the other side. Tough to do. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |

I would say using the product I sampled you would be best. It will fill the gaps and seal any leaks. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
