Hamlin pond is one of my favorite places to go ice fishing but I hardly fish it besides in the winter time. Why? Who knows because it's just down the road and it's always a good time. So My girlfriend Sherrie and I took the kayaks out after work. We were supposed to fish here the previous day but thunderstorms kept us off the water. We fished wacky rigged 5" senkos for about hour and a half. She had a black w blue flake and had a few bites on it but didn't land any fish. I had a watermelon red flake and had only one nibble on it and mostly was hauling weeds. She was getting tired and hungry so we paddled in and were about to call it a day when I noticed a bunch of baitfish in the shallows by the boat ramp. We then tied on 3" watermelon surprise senkos and casted from shore a few times. We immediately started getting bites and I managed to pull in one LMB. First one on my Shimano Baitcast setup. Still fish less from the kayak in 3 trips. The kayaks are going to need a serious tomato bath to get the skunk out but I'm glad I was able to at least catch one today. He wasn't much but I'll up the pic sometime later.
Til next time, tight lines!

@Tmac - Absolutely! I was pretty bummed when the black clouds ran in on Wednesday... AFTER I had already loaded the boats and started driving to the pond so at least I got out there and got a one fish redemption.

Threw in a few casts after work yesterday. One 3" Watermelon Surprise Senko, Wacky = One LMB Landed.

I only had about 50 ft of line left on this rod and didn't recover my senko so that was it for me. Still looking for "The One" Wink

Shhh.... Don't tell the wife I stopped here again today on my way home from work. Worked a zara puppy topwater for about 30 minutes with not so much as a peep on her. I decided when the going gets tough the tough get wacky! I got some new wacky hooks. Falcon 3/0 weighted weedless wacky hooks. Things are killer. I tied one of those on and slipped on a 5" Salty Trick Stick(alluringbaits.com) Sunfish Swirl Color. I threw about 20 casts and said to myself "last cast" before I go home. The bait hit the water and I cranked the reel a half a turn and got walloped! The ol girl dragged me threw the lilly pads and the weeds, my drag wasn't set, my knot came undone Shocked Mad Embarassed Confused Embarassed Embarassed I somehow by some miracle dragged her in along with a pound or two of weeds. I grabbed the Bass and when I took out the hook the line slipped right out of it. Embarassed She wasn't HUGE but my biggest LMB this year Very Happy
Great way to start VACATION Cool
