Hey guys, I plan on taking the Yak to Burr Pond this weekend, I've never been before and just wanted to ask what I should expect. Shallow and weedy, deep and clear. I 've heard it's very shallow and lots of weeds, but just thought I'd ask you all before I head out.

Don't enter the park at the main entrance. Drive up the hill to the boat launch ramp on the N shore of the pond. It's paved. And it's free, with plenty of parking!
Oh, and it's not all very shallow. The coves are, but there are a lot of spots that are 10 to 12 feet deep. It is, however, weedy. Bring weedless frogs and plan on burying your hooks in your bait. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi WA!
I live near Burr -> 10 minutes away.
Yes! Shallow and weedy.
Deepest area starts in front of the park beach (9 ft.) and goes around to the channel and dam.
FYI: Fee to enter the park -> But NO Fee to use the boat launch which is up the road a bit from the park entrance.
If you have the Ct. lake and pond book -> There's a depth map of Burr with write-up on it.
Have FUN!

Peco I knew you would respond, lol. Thanks for the help, I have plenty of topwater frogs that I will now get ready.
Seadog thanks to you to bud, I have the packet and I plan on parking at the boat launch, I'd rather keep 10 buck for lunch, ya know lol.
Also Peco are you going to hook up your fish finder to the kayak?
Thanks fellas _________________ -Get your Pole Wet- |

I sure am, but my "To Do" list keeps growing. I think the trailer wiring harness module that I mounted in my car has gone bad. That's job one right now. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi WA!
Very good pizza, sandwich, and salad shop at the cross road before taking the road up to Burr.
Pizza also sold by the slice!
Everything very reasonably priced!!!!

It's a nice place, but keep in mind the park closes at sunset (I don't like being told when to stop fishing.) That's the place to go if you want to see snapping turtles with heads the size of 2-liter bottles. _________________ Kira

With Kira's background on turtles I wouldn't be surprised if those are her "little pets" there. She probably pets them and feeds them the bluegills that were unfortunate enough to bite her bass baits there.

Doesn't surprise me. Phil you do know what owning a BOAT means?? "Buck Out Another Thousand"!! Boating maintenance is always "a work in progress" and never stops.

Hi Sj!
Yeah! I've seen those snapping turtles at Burr! BIG!
Those are Kira's "Little friends??????"
Nah! "Attack guard turtles!" more like it!
If your within her Bass casting radius she says -> " Meet my Little Friend". LOL
Sorry couldn't resist!
