How many of you have heard of a fisherman's blister? How many of you have it from casting with and holding onto the rod with the same area of the same finger so often?

With me reeling with the left and casting with the right, the inner side of my right middle fish along the middle knuckle is where I have my fisherman's blister. That's the prime spot to be getting lots of rubbing from where the reel is attached to the rod.

I wear a finger guard on my index if I'm out casting big plugs or tins with a heavy surf rod. After a long morning or evening, that braid will do a number on the index finger, especially if your hands are always wet.

Like Michael my right hand ,which I hold my rod with, gets a blister where my middle finger comes in contact with the reel. If it gets real sore I cover the area with a bit of tape.

If you get a blister from freshwater fishing . . . . You need to find a real job. Laughing

My hands are giant callouses, only thing I get is the bass thumb, which I love. Very Happy

ETA: For those who get blisters, MoleSkin is a great addition to your first aid kit.

It's actually not a regular blister. A fisherman's blister is an area that swells and stays swollen.
