We hit that spot off rt 9 in Berlin. Met NickP there. Started off slow but found a spot that I caught 4 and my buddy caught 3. Largest was just shy of 3 pounds. I had a good one on the line but line snapped and lost my lucky spinner bait.

Nice meeting ya rich- I couldnt put it together. Lost 2 good ones in matts of weeds in the first part. A solid 2 and then a 4+ that came unbuttoned boatside- didnt stick him hard enough through all that grass.

Lost 1 off a tree that was hefty (3lber?) and landed a heavy off a tree in the second part. Hit 5 fish on consecutive casts with that lucky colored spinnerbait Wink Wink but they were all under 1.5lbs. I blame myself and a girlfriend that didnt wanna be there... il be back there Very Happy

sounds like you had a fun time.
does this spot have a name or is it a small (i.e. kayak, canoe, etc.) type of place?
i am always looking for smaller bodies of water...

Drive down RT. 9 south, it's on your right in Berlin. You can see it from the highway.

Nice job Rich. You guys tried fishing slower baits for the bigger bass in there?

I tried two days there fishing a jig jim. Big jigs.... It was not fun. Lost 1 bigun in a matt- and a descent fish in a tree. Landed a 2 9 in a brush pile- the back of it- thank god for 65lb braid. Im just not feeling that chocolate water right now.

Nick, I know how you feel about that water! Hey at least you caught a couple of decent ones. I grew up in New Britain and over the years I've heard stories from older fiserman I know about the big ones that lurk in there. Kinda odd how murky the water is when that pond is spring fed. History is that the ponds were clay pit mines when the workers accidently hit an underwater spring and the pit started to fill with water very quickly. That is why there is still a crane in the water because the workers couldn't get out quick enough to save their equipment. Considering that you only see the top of the crane tells you how deep that water is.
