I've seen beavers tail slapping a few times at one of the small ponds I fish and some ponds at a golf course.

It was a pretty cool thing to see, and the noise it made was louder than I would have expected. A few times the damn beaver came up from a dive with a big ass fish in it's mouth, made me jealous Laughing

While fishing I stepped on a beaver dam. They get a little upset.

beavers don't eat fish.they eat the cambien out of trees or vegatation not fish.so maybe you saw an otter with the fish. otters will wipe out a fish population then move on to the next body of water and do the same.i would be looking to get rid of that thing quick.
