Hi!
Well I finally got up to fish Otis Res. Saturday and Sunday!
1st day, I pretty much went around the Res. searching with my fish finder searching for structure, drop-offs, and schools of fish.
No Crappies, but did get into some small White Perch.
Fished with live Goldies and jigged with worms.
Sunday, finally found where the Crappies seem to be cruising between 2 islands.
Caught (2) -> 14 inches and (7) -> 11-12 inches.
Hooked into 1 BIG fish that almost spooled me then broke off! -> Have No idea what it was!?
Both days were absolutely beautiful with very little wind and plenty of sunshine.
Otis is a beautiful Res. with all the coves, back waters, and islands to fish around.
Met and talked with a number of fishermen -> Very friendly and helpful!!!!
Only 1 jet boat on the Res. -> and he stayed well away from any fishermen and the big high-powered bass boats slowed down when passing smaller boats. That was nice!!!!
Bass fishermen were having fun hooking into lots of Smallies around the islands which have steep drop-offs.
Oh! -> There were a number of paddlers (Canoe/Kayakers) there also -> You'd have a ball there DD and Phil!!!!!
All in all -> Was a super nice experience fishing Otis!!!
Will be going back real soon
Best regards,

Sounds like a nice place to fish. I probably will end up getting my MA license next year. |
