Frogs rule. Awesome, heart-thumping way to fish. Nothing beats the excitement of topwater in my opinion. Sometimes the bites are few, but man it's great when they come. Poppers, walkers, chugs...you name it. Love em all. |

Phish - right now at least, I would not bother trying to get much past the Rt 291 bridge. The channel kind of flattens out up there, and I know from Windsor to the state line you can almost walk across the river. I live in Enfield and I don't think I have ever seen the river this low.
Kira - as far as Ct river pike go, I would try Salmon Cove before Wethersfield. Unless something crazy happens at Bantam this weekend, I will be spending much of the rest of the year around that part of the river. DEP manages a pike spawning marsh at Haddam Meadows State Park. Lots of pike in that stretch of river. _________________ Go big or go home! |
