Left the ramp at 4:45am with a friend from Maine (flyfisherman), was very excited to hit the incoming at dawn. Got to the mouth of the harbor and was a greated by some serious chop/slop for my 19'. Strong South West wind. Ended up drifiting the harbor until sunrise and ventured out to Southwest, Jigged up 3 small blues and a porgy, I really wanted to get my friend into a Bass but the conditions at my normal Bass Spot could be compared to a washing machine. Waited out the tide at Southwest Reef and decided to hit the final stage of the tide at my "spot". 2 drifts later my buddy nails his first 40 plus inch bass (on eel) and we head for the ramp at slack. Observations: No peanuts spotted on the surface, very minor bird activity, blues weren't as thick as they had been, they were holding right near bottom (this may be attributed to tide). No adult bunker signs in the harbor (although I did see some two weeks ago). Bass stomach contents to follow and maybe a pic. |
