Hit Bunnells Pond around 3pm Saturday and started off at the rocks.
Lures I played around with included silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-8, albino shiner Clackin Minnow CNM-7, pearl grey shiner Clackin Crank CNC-53, brown crawdad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, chartreuse ghost X-Rap Popper XRP-7, and fire shad Skitter Walk SW-8.
No topwater action in the weeds this time. The lure they were paying attention to was the silver shad JSR-4. Caught a cookie cutter with it and lost 2 on the jump.
Later I moved over to the Bunnells Pond Pequonnock River line and played topwater but no luck.
Next stop was the old cement wall. Casted parallel to the marshy shore to the left with the XRP-7 and had a fish take it under without an explosion. The fish felt nice but it spit the hook. Had no luck with the JSR-4 and XRP-7 in the deeper areas there.
Moved up Beardsley Park to the spot I finished at last time. Only had 1 small bass grab the XRP-7 before losing it on the jump.
Kept moving up the Pequonnock to see if there were any decent fish around but only saw sunnies.
Hit the road around 7pm. |
