Went up to bigelow / mashapaug today with my wife. started at the boat launch at mashapaug and fished there for a while. No one had any boats out today. They also made parking for people with boat trailers right in that area instead of before the launch area. Anyway, could see bass chasing smaller fish and some pumpkinseeds chasing smaller fish but no fish was following my KVD 1.5 pumpkinseed colored square lip crankbait.... so we walked around the trails to a cove I was at the week before fishing season started and I waded in a little above my kneee on a high sandbar in this cove, I could reach a tiny island that looked like it would hold some fish but no avail! The cove was smooth, water like glass and very cool to the touch. No luck in the cove either. We walked back to the launch area, casted a few more minutes at the launch then drove back towards bigelow. I got a drink at one of the water pumps and walked down to bigelow where a fallen tree is but again, no luck. Went to the "launch" area and the dock area, there were some older folks fishing from there...They looked like they were having a blast! So, long story short, no luck today. I love going up there to fish but I really need to get some type of water vessel!!!!! |

I have found the bite to be slow quite often at mash even from a boat, but every once in a while the bite can really be on there. You gotta love the nice clear water and beautiful surroundings! _________________ this fish here is a real donkey!!! |
