dragged a couple of my friends out of the house today to go over to beseck lake with the jon boat to see if we could find any signs of life, carried the boat and put in the water in a shallow spot right off lake rd. i instantly noticed a fish just chilling in the water, we tryed to snap a quick photo with a cell phone and move closer for a better look without spooking the fish, as soon as we got close enough to see it was a largemouth, it darted off into deeper water.

stayed in about 3 feet of water in the shallows for awhile trying out a variety of lures. Eventually we decided to paddle out further towards the middle of the lake, where we saw a fish jump out of the water, so we stopped and fished the area where we saw it break water, no idea what it could have been tho. it started getting colder and after a couple hours with no luck, we headed back for the shore where we parked.

all in all it was a really nice day at least even tho we didnt hook any fish, and i was very glad to see some signs of life in the water after what seemed to be a very long winter
btw- on our way back we some another fish just barely surface the water and then dive back down again. it did this quite a few times before we couldnt see it anymore. i couldnt get a good look at it so i have no idea what it could have been. any ideas? i've read carp surface for oxygen but i dont know if theres any carp in beseck? |

That's cool, I saw you guys on my way out yesterday. I live on the oposite end of the lake from where youlaunched. I'm still ice bound down here, I was going to take the yak for a bit today, but the lake didn't rethaw until after 3 today. Better luck next weekend. Glad to see someone out here. |

Yeah from where you guys launched, just head across and down on the lfet and you see a channel, at the end of that channel is the damn. I've never hit any pike there, but I landed a couple 35"40" pike in the shallow end near my house last summer. A couple guys hit a some nice pike thru the ice in the main lake by the red dock that sticks out near the dam channel. Good luck, see you on the water soon. |

That's where TurtleKiss (aka Kira) pulled the head of a big pike through the ice a couple of years ago. I think she was surprised by the size of the thing and lost it. I TOLD her to lip it! _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I was out on Beseck on Sunday. Fished the points, break lines, and cove by the dam. Threw deep suspending jerk baits, football jigs, and tried drop shotting. Couldn't convince anything to bite. Water was still only 38 degrees.
Sold have tried some shallower stuff .... Next time
It was nice to be back on the water again!!! |

I think I saw you out there, I was out around 2. I live on the lake and was out in the yellow yak. A little windy for the yak that day so only hung out for an hour. I had one hit on a slow rolled spinnerbait in the shallow end. |

Cool .. Ya, I was out there from about 1:00 to 4:00.
Going back tomorrow (Saturday). Supposed to be a nice day and my kids are looking forward to doing some fishing as well. Probably be out there around the same time frame.
Hoping for a little better luck tomorrow.
Hope to see you on the water one of these days. |
