Hello all, I'm an angler of all New England Species from Newport, Rhode Island. I have recently learned that Connecticut holds some of the best river fisheries in all of New England. I am drooling over the thoughts of hooking my first Atlantic Salmon and was hoping if anyone could share some insight on the rivers closest to me. I understand the Shetucket was stocked in the fall and mid winter and was curious if with this cold winter, is there any fishable water or is it all frozen? I have fly outfits and spinning outfits strong enough for the battle. Your info, insight, and tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you, hope to see you out there. Take care. |

There's a little pull over in Baltic on the Shetucket across from the firehouse. Alot of fly fisherman pull salmon out, but there's a specific season and tackle restriction for that area to my knowledge. Tackle has to be artificial lures with a single barbless hook I believe. |
