funny ,I live 2 minutes from Saltonstall and its the only Fwater fishing I do. Walleyes and jigging for alewives...
I see monster bass pulled from there on a regular basis but if you want to catch big fish there you must put in your time. _________________ The King of Long Island Sound. |

Bass fishing there is horrible. All dinks. I wouldn't waste my time. |
WOW, Rando couldn't be more wrong.
This place has always been a place to catch big bass and walleye. Trophy sized fish. Many people don't like to go there because of all the restrictions on when are where you can fish. I still go there once in a while.
You wont catch 50 bass in one day but the bass you will catch will all be about 4 pounds or more. I have posted reports on this place in the past. I used to fish it all the time and catch a ton of fish but then they introduced walleye into the lake. I think that was the worst thing to do. The walleye fishing is incredible there ( average walleye is 7-8 pounds) but when the walleye took hold the bass numbers dropped.
But if you know how to catch them there (there are methods that work) you will catch big bass consistently. Look at my icon the pic in the bottom right (wearing the red life vest) is from Saltonstall. _________________ Got one!!! |

If I remember correctly to the left of the launch theres was a lot of tall grass and reeds. That's where I saw alot of bigguns. I got my biggest right off the dock. _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Well, the poster was asking a legitimate question.(though it should not have been posted in the reports section) so i feel he deserves a real answer not some wise cracking BS.
Thats why people come here to get and give real advice. Not to hear wise cracks. _________________ Got one!!! |

Didn't mean for it to come across as that much of a wise crack. I figured you could tell by the sarcasm that I like to fish the place. But you're right, the place holds trophy size bass and walleye. It's definitely a tough place to fish. There will be days there, especially if the wind is not cooperating, where you will get beat up pretty good. Also the boat rental can be a pain, not to mention you can't get out there as early as you'd like. But if you know how to fish the place it could be a gem. |

I haven't been there in two years but I think its like 34 bucks with the trolling motor. its less if you're gonna row but you're gonna want the motor, ha ha.
But you also need the RWA season pass to fish their waters. if you go when the guard shack is open they may sell you a day pass. for like 20 bucks _________________ Got one!!! |
