Every year for the last 4 years my family rents a cottage on Pachaug pond. We arrived on the 10th of July and I must say for the first three days the fishing was horrible. Attempted several spots that held fish but daytime fishing was really slow.

Most trips speratic and would be out for a hour or two at best. Evening hours produced keepers up to the two pound range on swim jigs thru sand grass, until today the pad bite was almost non existent. Though yesterday and today they seemed to be on pad edges but would not take any faster approach than a slow falling stickbait ( i used either a yamamoto senko, or Strike King Ocho). Yesterday produced keepers in the 2 lb range and I was rewarded with a 4lber at the far south end of the the lake near the marina.

I did notice the bite was best from barometer readings in the 29.92 to 29.96 in that range either falling or steady. I have to say this is probably the best week I have had here in the past few years. Still this isnt the easiest of lakes to fish, though Im sure Densik and other guys from this area may disagree.
