|
|
As a change of pace from my summer bass fishing,..I occasionally take my kayak out in the salt water off my town beach. This morning was a very good day for me and I picked up 2 stripers. The first was small,..less than 20 inches but the second one was this 34-incher pulled me around for a good little while before I got it into the yak! I called it a morning at that point since I promised a friend from work that I would "catch him something for dinner" in return for some favors that he's done for me! So now that I've delivered the fish and the debt is paid,...I'm glad that I can get back to fishing "just for fun"!!

Nice fish Mark !!!! Is your Hobie a peddle drive ??? i'm thinking Yak but don't know if my legs or my arms/shoulders have more arthritis. besides those things cost more than a small boat and motor !! _________________ "I was so poor growing up that if I wasn't a BOY I'd have had nothing to play with"

Yes, it's a pedal drive! They retail for $1800 now,...but that includes a seat, paddle and rudder system which are usually "extras" on other kayaks! Used ones for sale are extremely rare,...you can find them on sale for about $200 less,...but that's going to be about it! It is very nice for fishing,...super stable and comfortable. If you are not trying to get somewhere in a hurry and are just easing along, it is not that hard on your legs at all.
Effort-wise it is very similar to the effort of pedaling a bicycle on level ground,....if you are going slow it's almost nothing,...but if you want to go fast, it is pretty susbstantial exercise!
Hope that helps you! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Thanks mark, i don't do anything "Fast" anymore. Guess i'll have to try one out. There is a dealer near me but i just was a little gun shy about coming up with that kind of money and not being able to use it. Still thinking !! Thanks again.

I got mine from Collinsville Kayak & Canoe,....I know that they will let you try a demo there in the river behind the shop,...just give them a call to set it up. You should give one a try there just to see if it's something you want to think about! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."
