Yep. Best bet is to hit the CT DEP website, and check out the lakes and ponds, then get your self a good slide rule, and a white board.
The days of "trout waters" has changed to Pike breeding zones, walleye waters, trout waters, trout parks, trophy trout catch/release areas and the "rest" of the ponds.
Basically... stay away from pike, walleye, and trout water, and flip jigs and slow suspending cranks.
The CT river is always a safe bet. Pike tend to run big this time of year, perch are running, schoolie stripers are starting to stage, and Carp are like riding a moped. Fun as hell, so long as your buds aren't watching. |

Haha, yea iv been doin a bit of fly fishing on the Farmington already this year, only catch and release but still fun to catch a nice brownie. Iv only been able to go pike fishing once before, and it was ice fishing in Wethersfield cove. Had a blast tho, what a fight. Usually fish being pulled in hard water dont fight much, but pike sure do. I want to get a nice one with a rod and reel, im sure that will be a nice fight! Anyway, thanks for the info! |

Just guessin that there is some open water on Mansfield.
Get yourself into the weedy shallows, pike fishin should be key right now.
Id be throwin swim baits, chartreuse spinnerbaits, or my personal fav... a Mepps. |
